I have one today for a techie job in the same company I work for! I'm never any good in interviews! How do people prepare and/or keep themselves calm for job interviews? I've researched the job and stuff and know loads about the company as I work for them. Still doesn't stop me getting nervous!

In my last one I took in notes and questions with me. It made me look prepared, and as though I had an interest in the job; gave my hands something to do; and meant if I needed to I could buy myself some time by reading the notes. Because I knew I had all the information I needed I calmed down anyway, and didn't have to use them in the end. Good luck!!!!

Thanks! Does taking in a pile of cue cards not look like you can't remember anything though! ;D I assume you got the job?

That’s good advice Angela. Having questions and something to write down the answers on show that you have prepared and are ready, it also means that by reading what you have written down you can avoid what we used to call the word of the week.
Basically
Erm
Are two obvious examples, I never wanted to know what someone was expected to do at a basic level. If you need time to think about an answer, tell them you would like a moment to think, doodle a little, looks like you are thinking, but also avoids funny throat noises or the word of the week.
You can also write something motivational/inspirational on the paper.
But all this aside…Good Luck ;D
hope you can read this before you go.

They will expect you to be nervous (a person without nerves may be deemed to be arrogant), so having some notes to assist "just in case" should only make you look organised (as long as you don't read verbatim from them).
and yes, the first time I did that I got the job, after a string of BADLY failed interviews. (I am also affected by nerves)

Thanks Random, it's not until 2pm. I've been informed by the chap interviewing me it'll be 'fairly informal'. I have a job spec written down so I may take that with me in case he asks me if I know what the job entails! I also Have some questions lined up to ask him.

When nerves kick in we often go into autopilot. Don’t say OOS and bow, and remember to use the chair to sit on.

Wasn't much to it really. Apparently I'm the only internal candidate! Not sure whether that's a good sign or not!

I'm never any good in interviews! How do people prepare and/or keep themselves calm for job interviews? OK, a bit late but be confident, if you can do the job you can do the job. They're are like buses, another will be along in a few minutes, If you miss one you can always get another. Enjoy the interview and look on them as a way to practice your interview skills, it's no big loss if you don't get, they're never really as good as they make them out to be. Though... Jerry Hall's toy boy sounds like a good one.

Though... Jerry Hall's toy boy sounds like a good one. I keep waiting for the day when I can apply to be Alan Rickman's "personal" assistant. Ahem! ;D *blush* Anway, good luck Andy - even though you've already had the interview, I hope that you made a good impression and that you will get the job!
