I've been continuing going to the Shito-ryu club and did their equivalent of sparring or "body conditioning" yesterday. It was fun but the result is my arms and upper body are covered in bruises and I reckon I've got a cracked rib again.
So how many bruises are you carrying now, and how often are you carrying bruises or other injuries?

I bruise very easily, especially my feet, as the skin there is quite thin. I'm always covered in bruises and often get funny looks when I'm wearing a t-shirt or cropped trousers or whatever, as my arms and legs are always full of buises. I once had an aquaintance ask me if I'd been mugged, as I had finger-shaped bruises around my throat from the chokes we'd been training the night before.

No bruises at the moment, that generally means I haven't been having much fun. Other than bruised ribs which takes a long time to heal, my worst was when I attacked mawashigeri chudan and it was blocked with an elbow. The whole top of my left foot and toes were black, painful when it happened but soon okay.

I had that happen to me when I was grading for my 3rd kyu! It was in the pre-grading training session and by the time I was due to grade my foot had swollen up so much I could hardly stand. Thankfully, I managed to pass my grade, although getting a good kibadatchi for Tekki Shodan was well painful.

I only have about bruises, one on each arm, from wrist to elbow, and one on each leg from ankle to knee. On my left side from waste to chest, this is mirrored on the other side. ;D I get funny looks in the gym especially when I go for a swim, although I always get a lane to myself. I also use Witch Hazel on my arms and legs; it speeds up the healing process without decreasing the conditioning and helps to reduce the effect of further bruising.

Trust me to open my big mouth. I went training last night and blocked a miageri with an open hand, my thumb is twice the size it was and my little finger won't stop clicking, nothing broken though. I will get some Witch Hazel today, good tip thanks Random

Aefibird, thanks for the advice, I will get stocked up. I can feel some more bruises coming on, a friend has told me of a sparring course in Swindon later this month. ;D
