Flying daddy long legs are not flying spiders they're insects (cranefly). Perish the thought of flying spiders.

If there were flying spiders in my house I would have to move house. If there were flying spiders in this country I would have to emigrate....
What the Brits traditionally call Daddy Long Legs are not the same as what the US do, as Jack has said we mean the Crane Fly. There is a Daddy Long Legs Spider. They don't fly though. We also have those long spindly spiders you sometimes find in the garden, with legs so thin they're almost invisible (Harvestmen), these are not technically insects or spiders; and again not to be confused with the Actual Daddy Long Legs Spider, which IS a spider and therefore gross.

I just dislike flying insects in general. That's what the spiders are for. ;D There isn't a spider in the UK which can harm a human. Just watch out when you're handling fruit n veg from Africa, (South) America, New Zealand/Australia though. www.kendall-bioresearch.co.uk/spider.htm#bites

Yeah, and I don't like them either!! ;D A mate of mine used to work in the banana house of a fruit packing company (I think it was Geest). She was a lot braver than me, I tell ya - some of the spiders that she described to me that they got in the packing place were huuuuge! They often had to get the local vets and /or zoo to come and remove particularly 'choice' specimins. Mmmm, nice job...

Spiders are ok. Most of them you have... oh... at least an hour to get treatment from a bite... Mick

The first sign of anything big from the tropics and I'd be off.

She no longer works there, but still has a no-nonsense approach to spiders (and other creepy-crawlies in general) - she just sucks them up with the Dyson these days. lol
