Hey, a crowd is no indication of a good team... Hillsborough gets packed to the rafters most weeks and yet the team still manage to play some of the worst football I've ever seen.

Yeah, we all lead sad and tragic lives here in South Yorkshire... ;D ...although those of us who have nothing better to do than visit Hillsborough are in a class above the sad, tragic and deluded individuals who think that going to Bramall Lane is a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon... As for those of us who have the time and inclination to go watch the Sheffield Steelers...I'm saying nowt... ;D

Hey this one passed me by... I'm Paul, 33 (Monday just gone), design computer games for a living and I live in the historical town of York. That's the original one. Not this "New" York everyone seems to rave about. Outside of MA I'm interested in reading (always got a book (or two) on the go), dogs (yes really...got two Boxers), collecting old MA books, art and illustration, miniature wargaming (yes I know I'm an adult...sorry), camping and hillwalking. Sometimes my girlfriend even gets a look in! Contrary to most people in Britain I HATE football (and the football fan mentality) and I'm virtually teetotal. Maybe the odd Guiness of a Friday lunch time. I'll admit I often feel like an alien in my own country. The odd times in the year I do go clubbing (Works do's and stuff) just serve to remind me why I don't go the rest of the year (and why I hate people so much). Although bizarrely I quite like dance music, Breakbeat and Drum 'n' Bass. I just dance at home instead.

Maybe...GTA:Liberty City Stories on PSP perhaps? Other than that probably not.
I'm currently reading...
The Viking trilogy by Tim Severin. I'm on book two "Sworn Brother".
Also Hegemony or Survival by Noam Chomsky. Bit heavy that one but very interesting.
You got any good books to recommned?

i've played GTA on ps2 and really enjoyed it but haven't played the psp yet. i probably haven't read many books you haven't read seeing as you're a collector but i just finished one someone reccommended to me "Kodo: Accient Ways" i believe it was called. its kind of a collection of essays about different martial arts ideas written by an old aikido guy. the one i just started is called "Barefoot Zen", i haven't gotten very far into it yet but i've also heard it gets pretty interesting.

I've got a lot of MA books but I've not read those two you mention. I either buy old books that show cool old knowledge that's now being re-discovered (like old western boxing, wrestling, cross training or grappling) or modern books that address some part of my training. I don't really have any books that focus of philosphy or reflections on MA. My MA books are of a more practical bent.
Other than that I mostly read trashy novels or historic fiction at the moment.
My girlfriends a secondary school teacher. The hours are great but the kids?...blimey no.

My girlfriends a secondary school teacher. The hours are great but the kids?...blimey no. Aye, aye, aye, tell me about it!! ;D Although, many of the kids I work with are great there's some right little (self-censored!)'s out there. Plus, parent's...They're the worst nightmare. I had one storming into my classroom during lesson time yesterday to have a go at me (over a minor, trivial incident that had been sorted out about 3 days ago). Sheesh. No wonder I'm a choco-holic.

No wonder I'm a choco-holic. i used to work with this lady that would seirously call her kids teachers everyday, and everyday i used to sit there and think to myself that parents like this have got to drive you guys crazy. do they? and if so how do you deal with them?
