I took a few years off training, at least formal training. I got back into club training this summer and it soon got back into the blood and I get frustrated with not being able to train.
I have never really had a down period; the absence was through work and travel. For me it is where I set my goals, at first it was a belt but I soon grew out of that.
I suppose to help others get over a grey patch (how many colours describe these times) can be quite difficult, the financial and time ramifications could wake someone up to what they are spending money and time on and could turn them off even more.
I suppose one of the hardest things to achieve is to instil the passion that I have for MA into others who see it as a keep fit/social activity.
There is also the reality that what we think might be a good technique can always be better, and that search for perfection should, I hope, drive a person on and on and on.
