Well. I practice the ITF and WTF material. They both have similarities, to Shotokan. ITF stances, and WTF hand teq's. I have also studied the Sonham system, that is the superior system IMHO. The ITF forms are much more athletic than the WTF forms. The ITF tends to focus on the indivisual rather than realitive action, and the WTF is sport based (sparring). Neither is wrong, it's just philosophy. I do tend to fallow the ITF teaching over the "sport" aspect.

I have never heard of GM west, how old is he? What lineage does his school come from? I am not being rude, just geniuenly interested...maybe a link to his site! I am finding that the HKD we study and the ones in aust,NZ, Europe, and the US are radically different from ours as they incorporate TKD and other arts....ours is traditional, like right from one of the oldest HKD families of Korea. Another way that TKD and shotokan are similar is the long stances, as compared to Goju, with short stances! *bows respectfully* I'm looking up that info for you. I'm embarresed to say that I don't know my TSD connection (through my instructor) But I can say that my TKD lienage is GM Jack Pierce, Eternal GM H. U. Lee, General Choi. So you can say the General is my Great Grandfather in TKD terms.
