So are the Tang Soo Do people. I was just out kicked, got creamed, last October in a tourney. And he was smiling the entire time! And so was I, afterward, when I bought him a beer. At least you both upheld the spirit of the tournament. :)That's what it's all about, to me. You have fun (even if you get your arse kicked!) and can share a laugh and a beer afterwards. Too often these days I see people making a big fuss just because they didn't do well in a tournament or they think a referee made a bad decision. Yes, referees do make bad decisions, they're human. People just need to get over it and remember that Martial Arts include respect and consideration - winning trophies is just a nice addition.

Judging: you're dammned whatever you say or do! There's always some numpty who will find fault with what you do....
I think that referees/umpires/judges of anything (not just martial arts competitions) ought to be really respected any applauded.
It's a hard task refereeing a competition, no matter what that competition is.
It's doubly harder these days as so many sports people seem to have no respect at all for what the ref says; no doubt following the example of Number One Sports Thug, Wayne Rooney.
Anyway, I oughta have put that in MasterH's new thread about judging.... ooops...

Yeah I've had some shocking judging decisions against me - using my patented "block with the nose" technique, and my opponent gets a point for jodan tsuki!
;D
