I saw that on a Disney Special. I really dont care for it. It looks rather silly to me.
I would prefer to watch the chinese wushu. It has all the gymnastics but more heritage.

This stuff is truly inmpressive. I'm sorry but it is. I train in sub wrestling at the moment and I used to do kyokushin karate. I think the sub wrestling i do is way more effective than this. However ... to Joe public, this type of stuff is the cream of martial arts. They view these guys as martial arts masters who could take on anyone. After all, if you watch a high level BJJ or wrestling match all it looks like is two guys rolling around if you are not experienced in martial arts. This, on the other hand, is pure entertainment.
I agree that it's not effective for self defence, but then again, neither is pulling guard or a flying armbar or a lot of the stuff you see in kata/patterns. You can't criticise someone just because what they do won't work in a fight.

Not at all "maskedman". I really admire strikers. My favourite MMA fighters are Liddell and Cro Cop. Like I said in my previous post, there are things in grappling that wouldn't be practicle in a real street fight ... eg pulling guard.
I'm neither a fantastic grappler or a fantastic striker, however, I enjoy grappling more because I think it's fun (and hurts a lot less than striking, lol).

Kata doesnt work....almost all traditional MA have patterns like this.....but yeah I can see how you are not insulting Traditional striking arts...its as plain as day
