I suppose i'll toss my intro here later. In the meantime, for those who know me... hi. For those who don't, hi.
Hmm... so how does this whole reputation thing work, or should i bother asking?

This is the introduction i provided two years ago at Karateforums: [/i]." Such introductions are insulting and touches upon the core of my dissatisfaction with the established norm, wherein certificates photocopied at a Kinko's print shop, certifying someone achieved a black belt in two years, holds more weight than 25+ years of experience and knowledge. In fact, it reminds me of all this bogus A+ and MCSE certification, handed out after a 4-month crash course, that holds more credibility than 15 years of employment as a computer technician.[/ul]I've maintained my studies since writing the above introduction, but not in any particular school or system. My main focus, for some time, has been to develop a study system that incorporate the principles of everything i've learned. I have a bit of a beef with the mainstream tendencies to instruct via techniques, as it tends to cause students to work longer and harder before the principles become apparent... and then suddenly everything they've been doing over the past few years needs to be adjusted and relearned to accommodate the lightbulb that just went off in their head. Consider this problem with 'every' principle, and every associated technique, and you'll see there's plenty of time spent 'relearning' rather than starting out on the right foot from the onset. Now, how to approach study systems with principles being the base, that's the tricky part. I've come to the conclusion the best means is to approach with full disclosure, to circumvent most of the why, how, and what if. To do so means i have to have a 'clear' understanding of each and every principle, as well as many of the applications derived thereof. Anyway, over the past decade i've been working to encapsulate much of my thoughts in this, and eventually plan to produce a manual that could serve as a study tool for practitioners, both novice and adept, studying most any system. Also, I intend to utilize this process to develop my publishing skills so that i can continue from there to help other practitioners encapsulate their systems, or the systems they study. As well, my previous studies in digital and video opens up the doors for video/dvd production of martial arts material. So, basically, i've created a rather extensive project to 'justify' the incredible amount of time i spend subjecting myself to injuries and posting to a bunch of strangers on the net. Other points i would like to bring up are that i feel very strongly that there is no 'one way' to learn, but that there are some ways which encourage more realistic studies than others and i also feel very strongly that there are far too many practitioners out there spending an inordinate amount of time 'rationalizing' away the fallacies of their systems, or the means by which they study. In this, i feel it is essential to question everything, even your own perceptions. There is an answer to everything, but no one person has all of those answers, and anyone who claims to have them all... is deluding himself. Thanks for reading, Roy

Hiya WW.
Great to see you over here! I look forward to your input.
The reputation is just a silly little thing whereby if you like someone's posts you can bow at them, if on the other hand you think they are spouting a load of nutterguff you can punch them. (without the threat of legal proceedings). ;D

lol, okay. Sounds fun. Btw, i created this account as WhiteWarlock, but it seems to have taken away my grandness, and turned my alias into small caps. Is there any means to fix this so my ego could be assuaged?
