There is to be a seminar in Macclesfield on March the 5th with all proceeds going to The Teenage Cancer Trust. I'll be going, along with a few people from my club and wondered if anyone here wanted to attend. My instructor trained with the organiser for a while and genarally attends every year. This year headlining the seminar will be Ian "The Machine" Freeman. Here's a link for more info... www.fighting-cancer.co.uk/Should be good day all round.

Well this was a great day. Ian Freeman did about an hour and a half and included how to ground and pound effectively (from guard and side control), passing the guard, applying weight in side control, a couple of submissions and plenty of jokes. Stopped for lunch then a few people did some demos (including my instructor and I doing a round of impromptu grappling ). Next up was Wing Chun guy Dave McKeown. He covered some of the fundamental blocking techniques of Wing Chun. This included Tan Sau, Pak Sau and some basic trapping. The day finished with some Boxing instruction from New Zealander Georgie Matiaha. Really enjoyed this as he broke down how to throw the left jab, straight right, left hook, over-hand right and a variety of body shots, stuff I've wanted to improve for a while. He also covered how to hold pads correctly so they offer a realistic target. Overall approximately £1500 was raised to help teenagers with cancer so a good day all round.
