The Bible of Karate: The Bubishi by Patrick McCarthy
Is it worth my while getting this book? Has anyone else got it/read it and what did you think?

I have my own copy, personally signed by McCarthy Sensei Its a great book, very deep and you will keep referring back to it. It is perhaps a little esoteric for some but its a must have in my own library. McCarthy's historical commentary is also a very good source of info.

I particularly enjoy the translation of the pages presented in Karatedo Kyohan as "un-translateable".
Everyone deeply interested in Karate should have Funakoshi's book. Wouldn't you like to know what's on that page that's still written in Japanese?

Is it worth my while getting this book? Yes, yes and thrice yes! I love the book - one of those that you have to keep on going back to and re-reading.

Well I bought it. I also bought Karate The Japanese Way by Mark Groenenwold. It won't be delivered until mid November though, but I'll be writing a review of all these books when I've had a chance to read them. I want to read them carefully from cover to cover though, as there is nothing worse than a half-educated review from someone that hasn't even bothered to research the material.

Enjoy!
I have Karate The Japanese Way too (my house is like a mini-martial arts library...). Another interesting read, but one that'll need you to study carefully. Not a book you can work though in one go.
I'll look forward to reading your review!
(one of these days I'll get around to writing a review of my own for KR...)

I think it's a good book, one worth having. I have both the Patrick McCarthy and the Tadahiko Ohtsuka versions. Mick

Which do you prefer/find the most useful? I just have the McCarthy version.

Ah well the McCarthy version is easier to read. The Ohtsuka version is in japanese which makes it a bit difficult, but it's not quite the same. It also doesn't have the commentary. Mick
