What would you do if someone started calling you childish names? How would you handle it? Personally I'd respond with some childish insults of my own. However, what if this didn't work? How would you stop someone calling you names?

I'd laugh in their face and walk off.

"I know you are, you said you are, but what am I?" has remained one of my favourites throughout my life.
That's class, the only thing I can think of that's better than that is winning any argument, ever, by just saying "no it isn't" to whatever comments are made, whether they're true or not.
But really I can't see I'd be bothered if someone was calling me childish names. "Ignore them and they'll get bored" is pretty old fashioned advice but I've tried it and it can work rather well.

I have to be honest. It depends on what mood I was in, and if I'd had something to drink or not. I know that I should just take the moral ground, and ignore tham but if I was in a bad mood or tanked up I would probably give verbal back. I can't see me ever hitting anyone for name calling though.

I often get called names as I go about my daily business (and no I am not a police man). I am sorry but I am a sticks and stones etc. man. I often write down what someone has said and thank him or her for it, which can really get up someone’s nose if they think they are insulting you.

Being as that I am half Serbian this guy used to always call me a war criminal and eastern european scum etc. I don't know why because I was born in England and have never been to Serbia. He was in the pub one night and spouting stuff about Serbs in front of everyone. I waited til he went to the toilet and followed him in. I went right up close to him while he was standing at urinal peeing and said in a really sever voice "If you ever say anything racist or offensive to me again I swear that I will kill your whole family. I know where you live".
I then left and went back to my pint. Whenm he came out of the toilet he was as white as a ghost and didn't even look at me. He's never given me any hassle since. I see him down the Bird in Hand all the time and he's really polite and nice now.

I'd probably try and ignore them unless I was feeling in a particularly angry or annoyed mood in which case I would probably give back as good as I got. Like Angela says, I most likely wouldn't hit anyone just for name calling, even though I might feel like it.
