About 7-8 or so weeks ago I broke my big toe whilst kicking. The pain seems to have mostly gone now, although I do get the odd twinge.
However, since I broke that toe, the nail has gone a yucky yellow-and-black colour, has ridges on it and the nail bed is sore when pressed. Should I see a doc about it or will it just recover in it's own time?
I've broken toes before but that's not happened to me yet 'til now.

It sounds like ‘onychomycosis’. Although I am not a specialist or MD, does it have smelly accumulations under the ends and sides, and is it getting thicker?
If it is see a doctor, if not, see a doctor anyway. If you prefer self-treatment try an anti fungal cream, and a warm salt footbath, put the cream on after the footbath.

The nail may need to come off , I am sure you can find a willing volunteer with a pair of pliers ;D

Is there anything you don't know?? Clever clogs... Anyway, it's not smelly ('cept when I've been wearing my trainers all day! ) but it's just darn uncomfortable, especially if I catch it. I just don't get why it's gone such a wierd colour. It doesn't even look like a bruise it just looks, well TBH, it just looks like its mucky. Which it isn't as I do shower very regularly! ;D Actually, I made that mistake tonight at karate - went in the shower not long beforehand and put some body lotion on afterwards, including on my feet. I was sliding about all over the place tonight!! I nearly landed on top of my training partner at one point too. D'oh!
