but if all other factors are equal, will not the fitter (therefore faster and stronger) practitioner ultimately be the better? Well, you would think so, but fitness is not always a good indicator of a person's skill. There's no doubting the fitness levels of top-class runners, but their skill in other areas of sport is probably quite low. Having said that, a good level of fitness isn't going to harm any MA practitioner - the fitter you are, the more you can train and for longer.
