It's ok if I'm not drinking now though. The pain is only slight then.

Therefore, I think I'm going to give it up completely and focus on something a lot more positive. Good for you! However, if you're really serious about giving up alcohol, then go see your doctor. As well as being able to help you with the symptoms that you're having, he/she may well be able to refer you to a support group. Good luck.

I don't drink at all. It's really bad for you and it makes you act like a fool. Just go and have a look at the state of the bar flies in some scrotty pub like weatherspoons. Drunks should be rounded up and forced to work in hard labour camps

Wow! I think that is great! It's funny....I used to be the same way! I was not an alcoholic but I drank every weekend (as well as my circle of friends) usually too much and would get sick and pass out. I always did stupid stuff and my friends would have to fill me in on what happened. The older I got, the less I drank but I would still binge on the weekend. So, about four and a half years ago, I decided to quit all together. I was tired of all of that junk. I was making some really good life changes and drinking did not fit in anywhere. I figure that a person can only get drunk and fall down so many times. Then I read/learned about how much damage it really does to your body. Now that I have not touched alcohol for a long time I don't miss it at all. Infact, I have come to hate it. I've known so many people who have had DUI's and got into fights etc. and ruined their lives. Now that I am away from those type of people and alcohol, my life is so much better. Not that I think I am better than them, just a little bit smarter for breaking out of that distructive cycle. Years ago I used to wonder what fun there would be without alcohol? Now I know that there is so much more to life out there, and it's great. I've also learned that if a person has to drink and do drugs all the time to feel happy, then something else is wrong or missing in their life. So, having said all that congratulations and please stick with it! :)
