I used to drink quite heavily up until recently. I would drink a few cans or pints a night in the week and then binge drink friday and saturday night.
However, I have decided to take my fitness more seriously and so I gave up drink alltogether just over a week a go. Even though my mates have been taking the piss I have not touched alcohol for a week and a half.
The thing is, I never really felt that drink effected me that much. I'd get pissed up but I never suffer with bad hangovers or headaches. I also have a really fast metabolism so I don't put weight on through drink. The only thing it effected was my motivation and productivity in doing things like work and training.
Since giving up drink I've had head aches, slight chest pains, stomach aches, I felt nauseous for a time and my back has been hurting like I pulled it. It's ironic really.
Maybe it's all the crap coming out of my system, i don't know. Anyway i'm going to stick with it and I don't really crave drink as much as I thought I would. Maybe I'm just bored with getting pissed now.
Anyway, I'm starting to think now, wether I should comepletely cut out drink full stop and give up completely or just really cut down to drinking the odd pint or glass of wine. Or the odd session at the weekend.
However, I'm just a bit worried that if I start drinking, even a bit, I will slip back into getting wrecked again with my pisshead mates all the time.
Have any of you managed to completely cut out drink altogether? Was it difficult? Or, if you just drink in moderation, do you ever get tempted to drink more than you know you should? If so how do you deal with these urges?
