Anyone got any good tips for easing sore muscles? I don't often get sore after training but after a particularly heavy session focusing on kicks on Tuesday the backs of my legs really ache!

Alcohol, not to rub in but if you drink enough of it you will not be able to feel your legs.

I find that a long hot bath helps if I have sore muscles. P'raps using Deep Heat might work too?

Lots of water, and aletrnating between hot and cold water in the shower. My old kickboxing instructor used to swear by eating a banana after training.

When you reach second dan your muscles automatically stop hurting...ever again. The pain is a test.
Or failing that try and get exercising again when the muscles actually hurt. I find that some initial discomfort soon wears off as you warm up.

I went for an hour long bike ride, that seemed to ease them off a bit!

And I was hoping for some real answers! :-) I'll have to try the alcohol (drinking) suggestion tonight after class. Thus far all the ibuprofen I've popped today has done nothing to dull the pain....

Ali, I think the real answer is that there isn't much you can do. A long hot bath or more excersize will ease them off but that's about it. And welcome to the site BTW!

Your muscles will generally hurt most 48 hours after the exercise that causes them to ache. So train two days in a row and then rest a day. Then repeat that. Or just sit at a computer all day and only train a couple of times a week (and even then take it easy in your training) like I do.

Or, even better, just sit at a computer all the time and PRETEND to train several times a week, like what I do! ;D ;D There's no way you'll get sore muscles then (apart from perhaps in your fingers)
lol, j/k - I DO train, honestly!!
