Children, arhhhhh.
Last night I had the little ones lying on the floor and then getting up as I bashed them with a 'blocker' very nice foam thingy. They had to cover and when up attack the focus mit on my other hand. Technique is not really the issue, just getting used to the rough and tumble.....
Will post more as I think (not easy!)

So did they! I try to explain the difference to kids of being hit and being hurt. It is the shock that beats most adults, let alone kids.

Try this...do you kata's in mirror image. I mean, instead of starting with the left side for example, start on the right. Another is a seemingly simple one. There are 5 basic blocks (there are more, but these are the "simple" ones). Step forward and do inside block, step and do outside block, step and high block...then low block, then knife hand block. Sound simple? Yep, it is...but now add SPEED! Make it a race across the floor, BUT they have to step properly and do the blocks correctly, or they go back ot the beginning. It's great for coordination, students (and yes, me too) like it, and it's something that appears easy to do, but it's not.

I do that with lots of diiferent techniques.
you just shout out
kick to the conkers (uaually gets a giggle from the little kids) punch to the head lie down jump up - punch - quicker
etc etc

It's actually easier shouting to them to do a tachnique rather than setting a prearranged series of techniques that they have to do correctly, and fast, across the floor. Give it a try.
