Here are a couple of facts that may be of use to instructors - at least ones in the UK. - If you are keeping details of your students in electronic format (especially for accounts) you may be required to register with the Data Protection Register. Failure to do so is punishable by a hefty fine. Find out more Here- Ensure that if you are wanting to take pictures or film during a class or seminar with children in that you have permission from their parents. In today's litigation hungry world you do not want accusations of impropriety! Cheers Angela

Wow! Who doesn't keep records in electronic format? I mean, with many clubs using email and web to keep in touch with students, provide information on events and other things and also discussion fora, I would have thought it would be relatively common to have at least some student details stored on computer. And as far as permission for photos and video taken during classes and seminars... It's probably easier, especially for seminars, to have the permission written into any registration form "just in case". You wouldn't want to finish up taking photos at a seminar only to find you can't use them for publicity because someone caught in the background won't allow it to be published or used! "Look, you can clearly see my left cheek and ear. You can't use that photo!" It is a sad state of affairs when people go from "gosh I've hurt my leg, oh well it'll heal and I am doing a MA..." to "gosh I've hurt my leg, who can I sue?..." Mick
