Yes, but with the weather we have here we hardly ever get to use them! (She says, as the sun is streaming in throught the window as she types)
I was my gi pretty regularly (usually after every training sesh) but ironing is often restricted to seminars and competitions. My gi doesn't usually get ironed to train in - I hate ironing. Plus I hardly ever have the time.

That's a very interesting theory! Anyway, that's a list of gi that I have. The list of gi that I iron is considerably shorter. ;D I don't iron if I can help it. anthro.palomar.edu/adapt/adapt_2.htmI reckon they make gis somewhere hot, use locals to measure the body proportions and then just scale it up for european body sizes. Result, arms & legs too long, body too short. I need an ironing machine. It's the heat that takes out most of the creases, maybe something like a dishwasher with hangers. You can buy industrial scale machines, you'd think there'd be domestic ones. www.siemens.co.uk/default.asp?content_id=3592Good start but what about trousers?

There could well be something concrete in that theory - a lot of gi are made in India or Pakistan. Even the Japanese ones are made in a country that gets consderably hotter than the UK.

Always happy to give something a go for scientific and empirical purposes, I ironed (or at least tried) my gi, the trousers were easy…but the jacket was a nightmare…I have a very heavyweight gi…I gave it up as a bad job and went to the gym for an easier workout.
Also…I am well above the average size for hot areas, and my gi, made in these areas fits really well, but I am sure that at some point someone somewhere forgets to add on the extra for moving west.

What a conscientious bunch you are. ;D I know the odd karateka whose pre-grading ritual involves scraping old Pizza off of their Gi. Having said that, I'm thinking of Kyokushinkai, and they always were a scruffy lot.

No not ever for regular training. Although if I was going anywhere as a representative of my club then I probably would.

Hmm, if I was going to go as a true representative of my club I would go in the scruffiest, most creased gi I could find. Sensei's gi only gets washed when it crawls out of the bag itself and into the washer. Either that or when his long-duffering partner takes pity on it and washes it for him.
