I was wondering whether to set up a new forum under the Karate Resource domain name. This would give me better control of the forum, and mean that I can back up data etc. It would also get rid of the adverts. The problem is that the forum would have to start completely afresh as I don't have access to the database to transfer the current threads over - and I doubt proboards will help me in that way.
What do you think?

Where's the "AAAAGH, I can't decide!" option??
I dunno - it would be really nice to have a new forum with admin control over who gets to post (plus no more annoying ads!) but it would be a pity to lose the threads on here - some of them are excellent reading.

Well I guess me and my awesome mods (see how I butter you up ) could have the unenviable task of CtrlC and CtrlV them across.

No. I've never made money on the site and I'm not about to start now. LOL. I have never made enough to even closely cover the costs of running KR. But the site has unlimited bandwidth and space, so I won't have to pay anymore to stick a phpBB forum up.

I was thinking on loosing side of it. Some forums have instituted a "Paid" group. They would help by giving monthly or weekly to help pay for the up keep and future software needs of the forum.

I've never asked for money for the site. It was my choice to make and maintain it. I do have affiliate links but I've only made about £5 on them lol. It didn't help that one of the affiliate links I had a bit more on crashed, and they lost all the details of what they owed Maybe one day I'll do a donations scheme. But I'd like more info up first. I really need to get my bum into gear and video some more stuff.

It's a good idea, I prefer phpBB...there's loads more functionality and like you said, you can back up.
You can add a paypal donation button if you have paypal, give people the option. I'd be quite happy to donate to cover costs.

And the more people who donate........the less we need to.
