news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4803878.stmI've just read the above about news laws on rape and I felt the need to talk about it. Without going into specifics, I've never once got a 'yes' from a woman. I kinda take the fact we're both touching each other in intimate places as the 'yes' I need. This to me is going to make it harder for men who are genuinely innocent to prove that fact. It'll open up the flood gates for women to think that just because they were irresponsible enough to get shitfaced of a Saturday night and end up in bed with some random fella that they can just scream rape, just because they can't remember whether they physically said 'yes' or not. I'm not saying men shouldn't share the responsibility, I just think a lot of innocent people are gonna become Bubba's bitch in prison because of this law! What do we have to do? Take a contract to bed and get women to sign it? Have a police officer in the room to ensure it's consensual? It will be interesting to hear a female point of view on this one! Discuss....

It's a tricky one, and I can see both sides of the debate. I'm not sure what the answer is though.
I had a friend who had on several occasions turned down this bloke that fancied her. However one night she was out and about and got quite dunk, I think he was also buying her drinks, and she got absolutely blotto. Anyway the long and short of it is that they ended up in bed together. Afterwards she was quite upset, especially as she had previously made it clear that she did not want to sleep with him. I feel he took advantage of the situation. However I also feel she was slightly stupid in getting so drunk that she didn't know what she was doing anyway, and may have in fact given her consent that night. I'm quit ambivalent about that situation.
As for police officers in the rooms - whatever floats your boat ;D

'Naughty' female police officers yes
Big burly bearded police officers no
;D
Anyway...back to the topic! RE the story about your friend, I think they were both to blame....he took advantage while she was drunk and she let herself get in that state. Swings and roundabouts!
But....if she had cried rape, under the new laws he'd be up shit creek. People knew she'd turned him down on numerous occasions....he would have had to fight his corner in court with no real evidence that she'd consented. She have loads of witnesses to say she'd spurned his advances and he'd have nothing.
It's a stupid law and I think there are going to be a lot of innocent people convicted.
Good for Police statistics and government crime figures....bad for the poor souls who go to prison for a crime they didn't commit.
