Just finished Karate-do: My Way of Life, by Funakoshi. (I bought it myself as an early Christmas present ) It was an interesting book... and a lot easier to read than Karate-do Kyohan. Is the book heavily edited though? I felt in some parts that it did not seem to flow very well, and that at times Funakoshi contradicts himself. It almost reads like a collection of stories written at different ages. Some of the stories lack credence (perhaps as a way of maintaining the Oriental mystique?) and I felt needed to be taken with a massive pinch of salt. All in all it was good, and an enjoyable read. It was nice to get some perspective from the founder of my style - and see his vision of where we should be taking it.

I read it some time ago and have to agree it is a good book. Much better than some other (auto)biographies! Mick

It's a nice fun read. I'd recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in karate. Certainly beats reading David Beckham's autobiography anyway!!
