Out of interest, how would you honestly rate yourself when it comes to your martial art. Try and be honest and leave out false modesty or egos Angela

I went with not great. Simply because there's so much more left for me to learn, plus 2 and a half years isn't a lot of study time in the grand scheme of things.

I also voted for not great because I have so much more to learn. I think I am ok when taken from the level I am at, but in the grand scheme of things I am still only just starting out.

How about fair with a lifetime of improvement left to go.

I voted "proficient" simply on the basis that I am (and am considered by my teacher) reasonably proficient at what I have learnt so far. That is not to say that I don't yet have much more to learn and certainly there is room for improvement. Some things I still suck at, and some things I can do almost without thinking. Some things feel sweet sometimes and feel off at other times. It is not the easiest question to answer perhaps... Mick

I would have voted "fair" if it wasn't for the fact that in the last 6 months I hardly ever made it to training. I do a bit of self training, I do know the theory and I'd even say I could be a good coach for people up to, say green belt right now but to be honest, I'm quite out of shape at the moment and my form has degraded. So I can only go with "not great" at the moment.

I think had anyone from outside walked into my lesson last night they would have thought my assessment of myself as "Not great" was an egotistical over-exaggeration. I was truly awful. I just couldn't seem to get it together. I kept getting confused, my stances were crap and my knee kept collapsing in. My brain was all over the place. GRRRR

I just couldn't seem to get it together. I kept getting confused, my stances were crap and my knee kept collapsing in. My brain was all over the place. GRRRR I hate it when I have lessons like that, especially if I've really been 'on form' the class before. I voted fair, but I'd say I was more 'not great-to-fair' - some things I'm better at than others. Actually, for my level I'm mostly OK, but in the grand scheme of things I'm a big pile of crud.
