If karate did not exist what other martial art do you think you would do instead?

I'd like to try my hand at either Judo or Aikido.

I did Kung Fu for 5 years but then went onto Karate because it 'fitted' me better - but I would love to try Akido.

One of the jiujitsu ryus where they do their grappling mostly standing up and with a good measure of striking in there. Iow. not one of those schools/branches where they mostly grapple on the ground. Actually, I think jiujitsu and the original form of karate were very much alike (sort of like a parallel invention) but karate devolved into a striking only form of sport in the last decades (ca. sinc the 1930s I'd say). Only now do we have a revival of the "old" bunkai stuff...

I'd train in my other MA obsessions instead: Wing Chun, Tai Chi and Aikido (with a bit of TKD). Or I'd probably take up something else like Kendo.

You should do!! Wing Chun is a fantastic art - give it a go, you'll not be disappointed. If you need any questions answering then as me or, even better, ask andy as he's trained in Wing Chun with my Sifu's own teacher.
