Graded to 5th kyu this afternoon. It was fun. I'm still ambivalent about grades and belts. On the one hand they don't matter so much, on the other it's nice to know that your sensei thinks you're improving. Yay, injured my ring finger during kumite. Just the pinky to go and I'll have the full set.

Well done Mr P! Shame about the finger, I graded to 4th Kyu with a broken toe!

Thanks.
We had a Ukranian lad join the class today, 13 maybe and no taller than shoulder height. Kicked our arses during kumite and seriously surprised a few of the black belts as well. His kicks & punches just seem to land out of nowhere, I'll have to watch him fight someone else.

That's now but imagine if you continued to fight him, imagine how quick you'd get. Personally I prefer to spar with the better fighters, it does me good.

Congratulations Mr P! Funnily enough, it was kyu grading for my organisation today too. Have spent most of the day in Nottinham getting the crud kicked out of me as "demonstration dummy" for both my own instructor and the Chief Instructor. Lucky ol' me! Hope your finger heals up soon Mr P - I managed to injure my thumb today, although mine wasn't from kumite, mine was from me being a numpty and trapping it in the back door.
