So how often do you train? What proportion of that is at home and what in set lesson time?
What are you opinions on the optimum training time? Do you think there is such a thing as too much training? After a certain amount of hours are you still learning or is there a saturation point? Someone once told me that if you train more than 3 times a week you are not really learning any more, and may in fact be doing more harm than good, what's your thoughts on this?

I train twice a week, usually Tuesdays and Fridays. Each lesson is an hour long. I think the lessons should be longer ie hour and a half but because we rent sports halls we are stuck with an hour. I also train maybe once or twice at home, practicing kata and doing exercises.
I think if you train a lot you do need to think about rest days, your body needs at least 1 or 2 rest days. I think training more than 2 a week you leave the realm of learning and enter the realm of constantly perfecting, which isn't a bad thing IMO.

I was briefly going to 4 classes but it was knackering me, i really felt I wasn't getting a chance to recover. Not much training at home, lack of space at the moment. I do Shotokan and Shito-Ryu so there are different emphasis in the classes, I like the combination, I think they complement each other. Lessons, Shotokan 60mins, Shito Ryu 90 mins. The Shotokan classes are much more physically demanding aerobically, the shito-ryu classes easier but the sensei knows fine how to make specific muscle sets hurt. There's probably more information in the shito-ryu classes, but comparatively less kihon or kumite.

I voted for twice a week, as in I attend classes twice a week for 2 hours each, but like most people I train outside of the Dojo as well, not just with practicing Kata or Kihon, but I also run and swim.

At least 6 classes a week, sometimes more. I do a little training at home every day, even if it is only some stretching.
