Have you been to your doctors? There may be underlying problems causing the pain and the training is aggrevating it. Welcome to the forums

It might be an idea to get your sensei to check that you are doing the moves correctly, because if you are not aligning your legs correctly this will place a lot of strain on the knees. If there's nothing wrong with the way you are doing the stance, and it is really painful, I would recommend seeing your doctor , getting some knee supports and raising your stances a bit whilst the problem is ongoing (Again, you may need to check this is ok with your instructor)
And indeed, welcome to the forum ;D

Hi Hobs, Welcome to the Forum and looking forward to your input. I have trained in Shotokan for many a year now and I also have trouble with my knees. In my case it is wear and tear(Arthritis for which I take medication) but I concur with AngelaG on this one, you should always train around frailties and injuries and your Sensei should respect that. Once again a warm welcome to you my friend.

Hi hobs! Welcome to the forum.
Glad you are loving karate so much. If you keep having knee pain then it could be because you are doing your stances incorrectly or because your leg muscles need strengthening. If it it something that is really worrying you then see your Sensei and/or your doctor. Take care!
