AndyM, we graded together for 1st Kyu in reading, very hot day. Will you be entering the competition in November ? I have heard it is just kata, no kumite.

We were next to each other throughout the second half of the grading. We did jiyu ippon together and I was your first sparring partner. It was a very hot day, 31 degrees. Competition is Sunday Nov 6th. Whilst kumite isn't everything, I don't think I can be bothered with just kata. Maybe your club and my club can have a friendly competition ? Rob Lewis is my instructor.

Jack, is the competitions open to all or just members of the SSKA? If it's open to all then can you post some details about it please? Other members may wish to enter. Ta!

I think it would be just open to SSKA but I'll try and find more info. Were you the ex-KUGB (think it was KUGB) chap, with the busted ribs? Sorry my memory is terrible!

Ah I remember now. You've been doing Karate for a while now haven't you? How did you know it was me that you graded with? lol
If the competition is just Kata I doubt I'll go.

Aefibird, as AndyM said, I think the competition is likely to be just SSKA.
AndyM, I had read on another forum that you were taking your 1st kyu at Reading and as you were the only chap from your club there it had to be you.

Yes All-Karate that's right.
How many higher grade adults do you have in your club, 4th kyu and above ? We probably have around 20 or so of that sort of grade. Just thinking of a friendly competition, kata and kumite. Haven't spoken to my instructor though, he may not like the idea.

4th Kyu and above? Probably around 10 or so, not sure, never counted... ;D
My instuctor is Huw Steiner. Never heard of 'inter-club competitions' though.

A club I used to belong to had a French exchange idea. One year the French club would come to England, we would provide karate courses, lodgings and entertainment for the weekend, they would recipricate the following year and so on, all friendly, great stuff. Don't see why we shouldn't have an "Inter-club-competition" but then there's the old chestnut about insurance. Ask Huw.

There's a free instructors course in November, might go on that.
