I really love smoking. I find also that it hasn't affected my fitness either. I can do loads of press ups etc, and I can run well over a mile.
Does it depend on the person, or is smoking bound to affect your stamina etc?

A mile isn't very far really...lol
Smoking does affect your lungs and recovery time, you will be less fit compared to someone who doesn't smoke.

You laughed at my stated running distance. So, you are.

No, I was just saying 1 mile isn't all that far, it's what...7 to 10 minutes running, 4 if you fancy your chances at breaking the record. Apologies if it came across like I was laughing at you, it was intended that way.

I'd say that smoking would affect your health and fitness in some way, even if you don't really notice it. It's a toxin, same as alcohol, and has a negative effect on body and brain function. Some people may be less affected than others, but it will have an effect. I'm asthmatic, so even being in the same room as smokers is a real killer for me. I feel like I'm choking to death. If I was an asthmatic who also smoked then it would have a serious impact on my health. However, some people may find themselves less affected by the result of smoking.

I smoke. It probably isn't helping me but it makes you look hard and the girls love it. Also, it is good for women who want to lose weight.
My gandad smoked all his life. He got hit by a car aged 82 when he was crossing the road to buy some cigs from the shop. It was the fags that killed him.

I sometimes think my students would prefer I hadn't given up smoking... Especially those times when we go until I get tired... ; Mick

A guy once *tried* drinking a can of coke whilst Sifu was speaking in a Wing Chun lesson I was once in. He got short shrift and never came back after that.
How wude!
