Before I start on the 'female driver' stereotype.....how did you manage that?

I was leaving the car park, when I realised I had to park up to pay. So I went into a space, swung in wide around a 4x4, went to put my foot on my breaks and the car carried on anyway. So bashed into the rear bumper of a car.
I just hope they don't try to diddle me out of money as the damage was only a scrape to the bumper.
Just feel stupid, and slightly annoyed (as you can imagine)

You say the car carried on....
Brakes failed or it skidded?

I'm not entirely sure. The brakes have always been a bit hit or miss on my car though.

uhm.... Ok, lets crack on with stereotyping.... Bloody women drivers! ;D Do you have an old car or don't you rate brakes as being very important?

No, I bought it as new and it has been nothing but trouble since, including a period when the engine kept cutting out at high speed. I have taken it back to be checked several times and the garage is always baffled, saying there's nothing that appears to be wrong, and almost accusing me of making it up. I'm getting a new one in November anyway.
And no brakes aren't important - people can get out of MY way! (Apparently even when parked)

What kind of car is it?
I bought my car from new in October 2003, it's just had new brakes and I need new front tyres....time to start driving a bit slower round corners me thinks! ;D

Vauxhall Astra. Bleaurgh!
I've just had to fill up the oil as well, which is a bit crap as it was only serviced in November. Between that and it drinking petrol like there's no tomorrow I will be glad to see the back of it.

Bloody hell! Seems you bought a Friday afternoon motor! ;D
I have a Fiat Punto, can't fault the car, the sales staff or the service staff at Reg Vardy in Reading. Apart from it being delivered with a scratch on the drivers door, which was fixed within days, I haven't *touches wooden desk* had a single problem with it.
Not that knowing that helps your situation... ;D

LOL
I'd never lecture anyone on their driving. Technically I have 12 points on my license for speeding, but they DVLA lost me in the system. Phew.
Been in four car crashes in the last ten years. Two my fault (mitigating circumstances), and two the other persons. I drive a company car, averaging 45,000 miles a year, but I have NEVER put oil in it (Mondeo) in five years.

Bah, my car drinks oil like it is going out of fashion. It's a crappy little Ford Fiesta. It was only a year old when I bought it but has been nothing but a pain in the bottom ever since I first bought it. It guzzles oil and petrol, the suspension is sh..., the front passenger door handle keeps breaking, one of the windows doesn't work, the rear wiper and wash hasn't worked properly since I bought it. Oh and the brakes keep squealing, even though I keep on taking it back to the garage (the officialFord dealership no less) and they keep pretending to fix it whilst charging me exorbitant amounts of money. I finish paying for the damn thing at Christmas so I'm getting shut of it a.s.a.p. It's the biggest heap of cack I've ever owned, and I've owned some ropey old bangers in my time. The 18 year old rust bucket I had was a darn sight more reliable than this almost-new one.

Vauxhall Astra? If it's anything like the GM Holden Astra then I'm not really surprised. For example they had a lot of problems here with the brake pads glazing, and the servicers blaming it on the drivers. Which I suppose is possible, but when it becomes a common problem...? Mick
