I agree that a sensei deserves to make some money for imparting his knowledge to others, however I don't believe that it's a requirement. I want to impart to the next generation what I have learned in the past 30+ years so that it isn't lost. That is my motivating force, not money.

No it's not a requirement, but if you want to do it full time for most it would be a necessity - unless they were already rich

I've gone down that road before, but I found I was taking students that weren't there to learn. It began to feel like babysitting, so I gave up my dojo that I paid rent for monthly in exchange for a place that charged much less, and I coudl reduce my charges accordingly. Now I keep who I want and discard those that aren't there for the right reasons.

It's gonna cost me £90 in total to grade Shodan if (when?) I pass next week, I don't think that's too bad persoanlly....seeing as I get registered with the EKGB for nothing as well! Best of luck for the weekend Andy! Knock their socks off (cos they shouldn't be wearing them anyway).
